Welcome to the Hawthorn Farm Village Homeowners website serving the residents of Dawson Creek and Sunset Downs in Hillsboro, Oregon. Dawson Creek bordered on the south by Cornell Road, on the east by Shute Road and on the north side by Airport Road. Sunset Downs is bordered on the south by Cornell Road, on the west by Shute Road and on the north side by Butler Street.
Hawthorn Farm Village was created in the early 1980's by the Quadrant Corporation, a subsidiary of Weyerhaeuser. Hawthorn Farm Village is conveniently located within walking distance of employment, restaurants, grocery stores, medical offices, daycare, pubs, coffee shops, bus, MAX and the public library. To orient you to our neighborhood:
- An annual neighborhood garage sale is held the first Saturday in September after Labor Day beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 5 pm
- As a long-standing courtesy to other neighbors, we discourage our neighbors from starting their lawnmowers, trimmers, chainsaws and other noisy equipment until after 10 a.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Our neighbors honor this tradition for a peaceful neighborhood.
However, during hot weather, neighbors may need to mow in the early-morning hours when it is cool. Contractors also may have to start early in the morning to do roofing or remodeling.
- Dogs must be on a leash and our dog owners always pick up their pets' waste during walkies.
- Our friendly residents routinely walk around the neighborhood so feel free to introduce yourself and get acquainted. You'll frequently see neighbors in a "gab" session on the sidewalk; you are always welcome to join in.
- During the summer, spontaneous potlucks spring up, usually in cul-de-sacs, which is a great way to meet your new, friendly neighbors.
